Sword Art Online: Echoes of Ancraid is quite challenging from the start, especially if you are trying to prove yourself in Hard mode. That’s why you need to be on top of your game and get the best weapons and armor around. Luckily, there are a few decent picks when it comes to weapons in early gameplay.
You should take some time and look around for the Valkyrie’s Saber schematic to craft one of the best defensive weapons in early game. To make things easy for you on this front atleast, I have put together details of how to get the Valkyrie’s Sabre, the required crafting materials, and what this weapon does.
How to Get the Valkyrie’s Sabre Blueprint
Unlike other schematics like the Earthly Jacket, you can’t get the Valkyrie’s Sabre blueprint from any quest. Instead, defeat a particular enemy type and farm it as a drop. If you follow the Secret Medicine of the Forest main story quest, you will fight several enemies while collecting the Little Nepenthes Ovule. Don’t forget to increase your healing crystal slot before you begin.
Right before, during, or after the Flowering Nepenthes boss fight, you will find an Elite Kobold within the area. It is just beyond the stone bridge that leads to the boss. Initially, I couldn’t find any Elite Kobold here, and it wasn’t until I changed difficulty from Hard to Normal that I could find the Kobold spawn.
If you don’t get the schematic from this boss, you can also defeat the nearby boar and other enemies within the vicinity, as these too have a chance to drop it. You will also find another Elite Kobold a bit further away to help you farm the schematic. Also, you have a chance to shuffle the kind of mob spawns here by visiting town and returning to this area later.
How to Craft the Valkyrie’s Sabre
It took me around 5 tries to get one Valkyrie’s Sabre schematic from the random enemies in the above-mentioned area. Once you have the schematic, visit any blacksmith across any town to craft the weapon. You will require the following materials:
- Silver Ingot x 1
- Coarse Fur x 3
- Magestone x 2
Completing the Secret Medicine of the Forest quest will give you one Silver Ingot, and defeating the normal Kobold enemies during the quest will give you a handful of Magestones too. As for Coarse Fur, you could defeat the Elite plant and spider enemies during the Secret Medicine of the Forest quest, but you will have a better chance of farming Coarse Fur by defeating enemies within the Kit for Tat and Dawning Fear quests.

While the stats of the Valkyrie’s Sabre might not be the best, it is a pretty solid weapon for early gameplay. Its unique mod grants additional defense while also increasing your damage output. If you pair this weapon with other gear that offers high defense, then you will take a lot less damage from enemies and fly through boss fights more easily.
