If you want one of the strongest new Pals in Palworld 1.0, Hartalis should definitely be one of your priorities. Unlike most Pals, you can’t just catch it with a Pal Sphere while exploring. Instead, Hartalis is locked behind a difficult raid that needs you to be well prepared. This guide covers everything you need to know, from unlocking the raid to finishing it, and adding Hartalis to your collection.
How to get Hartalis in Palworld 1.0
Hartalis does not appear anywhere on the map. There is no habitat area for it, so the only way that remains to get one is by summoning it as a raid boss and defeating it.
Step 1: Level Up, Fella

Hartalis is designed for players who have levelled up Pals with more than decent gear. I wouldn’t recommend that you start this before at Level 65, preferably a couple or so above that. Even then, it can still be a difficult fight if attempted carelessly. Before you begin the fight, make sure you have:
- High-level weapons
- Strong armor
- High level Pals
- A good amount of restorative items
Step 2: “Summon” a Summoning Altar

The Summoning Altar is unlocked through the Ancient Technology tree at Level 33. To unlock it, you need to spend 3 Ancient Technology Points. Once unlocked, you can build it using 100 Stone and 20 Paldium Fragments. Make sure the base has plenty of open space, because a few of Hartalis’ attacks cover huge AoEs and can destroy your base buildings during combat.
Step 3: Get a Hartalis Slab

To summon Hartalis, you first need a Hartalis Slab. You can craft one by combining 4 Hartalis Slab Fragments. These fragments cannot be crafted or bought off from merchants, so here are a few ways to reliably farm them:
1. Feybreak Dungeons
The most reliable way is by exploring the Feybreak Dungeons and opening the reward chests at the end. Hartalis Slab Fragments are a chance-based reward in these chests, so you might need to complete several runs before getting all of the four fragments.
2. Cherry Blossom Cave
You can also find Hartalis Slab Fragments inside the Cherry Blossom Cave. Search all treasure chests you come across, and if you are lucky, you could find one. They are not guaranteed, so again, repeated runs may be needed.
3. Send Pals on Expeditions
If you’ve unlocked the Expedition system, several late game expeditions can reward Hartalis Slab Fragments. These expeditions can return with Hartalis Slab Fragments, making them a great passive farming method while you’re doing other activities. A few examples are:
- Celestial Sakura Cavern
- Dark Cave of Feybreak
- Ancient Feybreak Remains
There is also a Hartalis (Ultra) Slab, which summons an even stronger version of it that is tankier, but also gives you better rewards. Once you have collected 4 Hartalis Slab Fragments, head to any workbench and craft a Hartalis Slab. The recipe is automatically added to your inventory once you have a fragment in your inventory.
Step 4: Time For Action
Once you have the required slab, go to a Summoning Altar and interact with it. Use the Hartalis Slab to summon Hartalis and prepare to fight. Hartalis is not a just a damage sponge. In addition to being a tanky Pal, it also takes a page out of the Dark Souls playbook and becomes a two-phase boss.
Phase One

Hartalis begins the fight using Water and Grass elements. During this phase, it creates elemental barriers that mitigate any incoming damage – unless its from other weakening attack types. For the first phase, I recommend relying heavily on Electric attacks and Fire attacks.
Grass Barrier = Fire attacks Water Barrier = Electric attacks
Taking down barriers should absolutely be your first priority. If you try to attack through the barriers with any other element types, you won’t even be making a dent in it.
Phase Two

After losing all of its health, Hartalis does not die. Instead, it restores itself and turns into a Neutral-type boss. In between attacks, Hartalis will start up a “charging” animation in this phase, and you will see rock pillars appear from the ground. Immediately stop attacking and take cover behind one of these pillars, because once the animation finishes, Hartalis sends out a massive nuke, blinding and afflicting everything in the area.
If you are underleveled or underprepared, this single attack can team-wipe your entire party in one shot. Hartalis also becomes more aggressive, and puts up different barrier weak against Dark attacks. Yes, you can finally use your Dark-type Pal for a raid fight.
Best Pals to Defeat Hartalis
Since Hartalis changes elements during the battle, having only one type of attacker is not enough. I recommend using:
- Orserk for Electric damage during the first phase
- Blazamut for Fire shield breaks
- Bellanoir Libero for Dark attacks during the second phase
- Shadowbeak
- Paladius
- Xenolord
- Selyne
Many experienced players also keep Bellanoir Libero in the active party because its attacks work very well against Hartalis’ shield mechanics.

Defeating Hartalis does not let you just throw a Pal Sphere and catch it. Instead, the game rewards you with a Hartalis Egg, which is added directly to your inventory. Place it into an Egg Incubator, and once the incubation is done, the Hartalis hatches and becomes yours. You also get the King of Salvation achievement for your troubles.
