Each chapter in Onimusha: Way of the Sword offers some interesting tales about how the Genma enemies have destroyed most of civilization. The fate of Kyoto lies on your shoulders, and you need to progress through each chapter to get stronger to face the end. Sometime along the way, you will reach certain roadblocks that will halt your progress for a while.
Upon reaching the temple grounds during the Windswept Kennin-Ji quest, you will reach a dead end very quickly. Right after starting the chapter, you need to investigate the temple grounds and find out what’s blocking the way. The process is quite simple, and it shouldn’t take too long to clear the way.
Windswept Kennin-Ji – Investigate the Temple Grounds Guide

As soon as the chapter starts, check your map to know where you should be going. You need to locate the Kennin-Ji temple, just northwest on the map. Following the quest marker will lead you directly to the entrance of the temple. Shizuka will comment that the Malice around the temple seems to have toned down, which means you are heading in the right direction.
Enter the distinctive-looking temple archway to hear the voices of the Genma enemies. In the courtyard, go left and around the temple to find some enemies. Get rid of them, then head up the short flight of stairs ahead. Musashi will comment that there are more spiders blocking the way, after which you can use your Oni Vision to track down the spiders in question.
Spider #1 Location

Two of the tendrils from the twisted web blocking the way ahead will turn red after using the Oni Vision. All you need to do is follow the tendrils to the very end to find the spider and kill it. Let’s start off with the one on the left. Follow the tendril all around the temple’s left side to find a stone bridge ahead.
You need to get on top of this particular bridge and get to the other side to find the spider in the garden beyond the wall. It shouldn’t be too hard to find it, and once you do spot the spider, kill it to get rid of the tendril.
Spider #2 Location

Head back to the starting area and go right this time. There are a few enemies you need to clear out first, then peer through the cracks towards where the tendril leads. You can’t go over there since the way is blocked, but Shizuka does hint at using your weapon to kill the spider. Look a bit to your right to find the spider, then use your Oni Bow to kill it.
Once the tendrils have cleared up, you can head back to the starting location and finally gain access to the Dharma Hall, which continues the rest of the questline.
