Games that fall into the Metroidvania genre generally tend to enforce the idea of exploration to help the player find new weapons and offer cryptic clues to unlock new areas in the game. It is one of the attractive and engaging charms of the game genre; Castlevania games have been known to carry many secrets hidden in not-so-easy places. In Belmont’s Curse, after facing the Fallen and Warrior monsters, the buck stops at the Prophetess. Here we must hunt down four clues in four different areas to finally get our hands on a boss encounter.
In this guide, I will list out all 4/4 Prophetess Clue to learn the whereabouts of the boss fight against Medusa in Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse. Here I will provide location info for each one and decipher the clues to learn about the next objective in the game.
The Prophetess Clue #1 | Mausoleum of the Kings, Holy Innocent’s Cemetery

The Roots of the Hollow Tree Clue: “My sister . . . disappeared . . . think she slipped beneath the roots of the hollow tree . . .”
From the Mirror of Life, at the spot on the map above, turn left and then use the grappling points to head to the top and then make a quick right turn. Cross the Chapel of the Kings room to get to the next room. Now just drop down to the floor below; you will find the spirit awaiting your arrival. Talk to the Spirit to learn about the Roots of the Hollow Tree Clue. The clue gives us information about the Spirit’s sister and her disappearance; the spirit thinks her sister slipped beneath the hollow tree roots.
The Prophetess Clue #2 | Pauper’s Grave, Holy Innocent’s Cemetery

The Cemetery Fountain Clue: ” The fountain . . . is strange . . . anything . . . thrown in . . . disappears . . .”
This one is located northwest of the Fountain of the Lost. Get to the spot marked on the map above in Pauper’s Grave, Holy Innocent’s Cemetery. Use the grappling point to get to the top and then turn right. Cross the room, keep heading right as usual, and leave through the door to the next room. Here you will find the spirit next to the wall on the right. Talk to the spirit to get the Cemetery Fountain Clue. The clue describes the way to access the boss area via the fountain in the region.
The Prophetess Clue #3 | Roman Baths, Holy Innocent’s Cemetery

The Guardian’s Gaze Clue: ” I came to fight the monster . . . but then I saw the eyes . . . I could not move . . . I could not hide . . . should have turned away . . .”
Get to the spot marked on the map in Roman Baths, Holy Innocent’s Cemetery. The spirit is located on a small platform, but getting there is going to be a difficult path, as you must complete a platforming challenge to make your way to the spirit.
Once inside the area, you must navigate it by swinging between spiky walls on both sides of the zone. After dealing with the environmental platforming challenge, the route will be open to the Spirit on the platform. Talk to the spirit to learn about the Guardian’s Gaze clue. The clue further indicates the boss we are going to face by mentioning the eyes of the monster having the power to freeze people.
The Prophetess Clue #4 |Sepulcher of the Knight, Holy Innocent’s Cemetery

The Roman Baths Clue: ” The Captain of the Guard led us to the ruins of the Romans’ Paths to find the creature . . . it did not go well.”
The last clue we need is found in the Sepulcher of the Knight in Holy Innocent’s Cemetery. The clue rather warns about the creature and its strength in disposing of the enemies. Compared to all three clues, this one is a bit easier to find; just show up at the spot located on the map above, and you will find the spirit without having to do any platforming challenges like the previous one. Speak to the spirit to learn about the Roman Baths Clue.
After gathering all 4/4 Prophetess clues, head to the Dock section in the Fountain of Lost. In the spot, you will spot some bubbles brewing on the surface of the water; don’t worry about it. Just dive right in, and it will lead you through a secret passageway to start the boss encounter against Medusa.
Defeating Medusa earns you the Prophetess Tarot Card and the Petrifying Gaze ability. Defeating Medusa earns you the Snakes speared in the ruins trophy or achievement.
