Deck13’s third-person action RPG Atlas Fallen is set to launch on August 10, 2023. This comes after a delay from its earlier release in May 2023.

From what was shown in various trailers prior, Atlas Fallen offers a ton of eye-catching content like magical gauntlets, an evil god, god-like monstrous creatures, power-increasing stones to collect, and fast-paced fighting styles. All of this combined in a post-apocalyptic world built on sand makes it an experience worth checking out.

Atlas Fallen platforms

Atlas Fallen is coming out on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

On the other hand, Atlas Fallen will not be available on PS4 and Xbox One. As per the developers at Deck13, they wanted to deliver a much higher standard for the gameplay overall and that necessitated the latest hardware.

Atlas Fallen editions and pre-order bonuses

Atlas Fallen comes in three different editions:

  • Standard Edition
  • Limited Edition
  • Signature Edition

While the Standard Edition is available to pre-order on various platforms like Steam, Playstation Store, and Xbox Store, you’d have to head over to Focus Entertainment’s official store for the latter two.

The Standard Edition can be bought for $59.99. Pre-ordering will net you an assortment of in-game items, named The Ruin Rising Pack. This pack includes some armor and gauntlet skins, unique essence stones and idol, and an exclusive coop indicator.

Meanwhile, the Limited Edition and Signature Edition of Atlas Fallen are both physical-only purchases, which are priced at $79.99 and $99.99 respectively. The Limited Edition includes the game’s official Steelbook, a metal poster, the game on the platform of your choice, and the Ruin Rising Pack.

Atlas Fallen Signature Edition is, in a way, the actual limited edition as Focus Entertainment had a stock of 100 of them for sale worldwide. It packs an exclusive artwork by the game’s Senior Concept Artist Janine Bertet alongside Art Director James Lowe as a numbered laminated wooden frame, a certificate of authenticity hand-signed by the artist, a digital or a physical copy of the game for the platform of your choice using James Lowe’s artwork as an exclusive box art and the Ruin Rising Pack DLC. As of the time of writing this article, the Signature Edition is sold out.

Atlas Fallen Gameplay & Story

From what is seen in the trailer, Atlas Fallen is promising in terms of its visual fidelity and moment-to-moment gameplay. Even though not much is known about the actual story, we do have some knowledge of what’s to come. You will be playing as a protagonist who seems to the be only hope for the people of this world to fight against the evil sun god named Thelos.

Moreover, he would become the ”Gauntlet Bearer” after coming across a magical gauntlet that lets him wield an immense amount of power to take his fight to the evil god and the monstrous creatures along the way. Moving on, there is a vast amount of options for players to build their unique characters.

You can start from as basic as the general looks of their character to what kind of weapons they wield, what costumes they wear, and more. Three weapons of choice consist of the Dunecleaver, the Sandwhip, and the Knuckledust, each of them consisting of unique magical abilities that will allow you to take on different types of dangers.

As intimated by the devs, you will still be able to complete it all in around 25-30 hours.

Is Atlas Fallen an open-world game?

Deck13 has mentioned that Atlas Fallen is not an open-world game, although each individual area seems to be built with plentiful details.

Atlas Fallen combat and mechanics

Other than the story and character customizations, there are also Essence Stones scattered all across the game world that you’d have to look out for. These will aid you in enhancing your magical weapons and other capabilities. Moreover, the gameplay mechanics also revolve a lot around exploration. You’ll be able to smoothly travel around the world of Atlas Fallen with the use of abilities like flying, double jump, and sand gliding.

The game majorly focuses on agility and speed which will also matter on how you customize or equip your character with several abilities. Meanwhile, your choices and their consequences are also supposed to carry out some flavor. However, the overall important parts won’t be affected much.

Atlas Fallen co-op details

The co-op feature in Atlas Fallen lets you and your friend tag along in the game and immerse in the campaign together. Moreover, there is difficulty scaling. So, co-op won’t necessarily make the game a cakewalk.
