Unlike most treasures in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, the Black Island treasure chest can be pretty difficult to obtain. I don’t mean it in a sense that the location is hard to pinpoint – the map itself is scattered and the process of obtaining it can cost you a lot of real-life hours. Since it basically based on how happy the RNG gods are with you, this guide will focus on the best method (as of now) to obtain the treasure.
How to Get The Black Island Treasure Map in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced

The hardest part of this entire treasure hunt is not finding the chest, but acquiring the treasure map itself. This is because it is one of the five maps that have multiple pieces, and unfortunately, the Black Island treasure map has the maximum requirement of them: a total of 10 Yellowed Map pieces. Now, considering the vast amount of collectibles in the game, ten doesn’t feel like much of a number – until you get to how they are received.

Step 1 – Unlocking the Treasure Dealer at Great Inagua
First of all, you must complete the memory “A Single Madman”, which takes you to the Great Inagua for the first time. Once the memory is over, the island opens up to reconstruction. You can construct various kinds of stores here, one of which is the Treasure Dealer. At the coordinates 816,448, you will see a man asking you for funds to open up a shop that can “piece together maps” (like the Restored Preserved map pieces that give you the Shade and Shadow Robes; or the Weathered map pieces that give you the Persian scimitars & Gargoyle’s Breath weapons.
Once you help him, he starts a business selling rare and legendary items, and most importantly restoring maps. But, it doesn’t end here – you also have to spoon-feed the map pieces to him. Now, you must be wondering that exploring the Caribbean is going to get you all the map pieces at some point. No it won’t. These map pieces are not part of secrets at any location, nor do they have dedicated side activates to be obtained.
Step 2: Farming Kenway’s Fleet Missions

The only way to obtain these specific map pieces are from Kenway’s fleet missions, and it is still not a guarantee. See, the rewards for these missions are generated on random, so the process goes something like this: Check the fleet planning board – if you see a map piece as one of rewards, go for it. If not, you still have to send your ship to a mission so that it comes back, gives you the rewards, and resets the mission type and rewards. Takes 30 min – 1 hour of real-life time (depending upon the mission type).

You must do this trial-and error-method a total of times to get all the map pieces. Even considering you get ten 30 minute missions with map pieces as rewards back-to-back, that is five hours of real time for one treasure chest. Did I mention you also need to capture a fort before even becoming eligible to send ships for missions? Oh, and also at least two of every type of ship: schooner, brig, frigate, and man o’ war. The only silver lining is you can access fleet missions right inside the captain’s cabin in Jackdaw after the “Governer No More” quest.
Note: Some players have suggested saving just before accessing fleet mission map, and then reloading until you get the map piece as a reward. Unfortunately, this did not work for me, but give it a shot.
Step 3: Restoring the Map & Getting The Black Island Treasure

After you have gone through the tedious turmoil of one of the worst design choices ever made in gaming, return to the Treasure Dealers and get those pieces restored. You will need to spend 100 Aloe and 500 Reales for him to start working. Now check your codex for treasure maps, and a new one titled Black Island will be there with the coordinates 915,617.

Head to those coordinates, which of course take you to the Black Island, easternmost section of the world map. At the beach look for a climbable scaffolding and the front of a wrecked ship nearby. The chest is located opposite of this wreckage.
You get “The Wellerman” sea shanty, Obsidian legendary sails, and Night Owl legendary helm from this chest.
