When I started playing Mortal Shell 2, I was quite confused by most of the items present in the game. The game never tells you what some of these items do, which can leave you scratching your head at times. One of these items is the Mether’s Flesh. When you check the item, you won’t understand what it does, nor does it slot into a weapon. Moreover, it is easy to assume that you won’t need it in your journey.
But I’m here to tell you that it’s important. Believe me when I say that it takes you to one of the most memorable areas in the game. In this guide, I’ll explain how to use the Mether’s Flesh.
How to Use the Mether’s Shell in Mortal Shell 2 to Get the Mango
The use of Mether’s Flesh is quite simple in Mortal Shell 2. In simple words, it is an offering for a creature called the Nightfish. Here’s the short version of what you can do with the item:

You will get the Mether’s Flesh from the Pulsing Caves Beacon in the game. Once you get it, don’t discard it.

Head to the Outskirts of Nochte Beacon in Fainweald. Then, in the cave nearby, look for the Nightfish.

Offer the Mether’s Flesh to the creature and let it swallow you.
Once the Nightfish eats you whole, you will be teleported to a new area called the Mango Sanctuary. Don’t be scared by the eating animation, because you won’t die. This is very much an intended way to get to the sanctuary; like those coffins in Elden Ring.
Where Can You Find the Mether’s Flesh in Mortal Shell 2
Mether’s Flesh is hidden away in a chamber below a crater, which can be found in the Pulsing Caves Beacon. It is the first Beacon inside the northern Corrupt Gate. Here’s how to find it easily:

Fast travel to the Pulsing Caves Beacon and find a crater that is surrounded by Lithopod enemies.

Jump down into the crater and skip fighting the Lithopods on the surface.

Once you make your way deep into the crater, you will find a few exploding enemies. Kill them by either letting them explode or with the help of ranged weapons.

You will see a few mineral deposits guarding an area. Clear them out, and inside you can find the Mether’s Flesh.
Finding the Nightfish and Using Its Help to Teleport
The Nightfish can be found inside a cave which is located near the Outskirts of Nochte Beacon, from where you have to head east and then a little towards the south. Once you reach it, here’s what you have to do:

- Interact with the Nightfish and offer the Mether’s Flesh after the prompt appears.
- Confirm your offering, and the Nightfish will swallow you and get you inside the Mango Sanctuary.

Once you arrive at the sanctuary, the path inside is straightforward. Keep going ahead till you find a giant Mango inside.
What is the Mango Used for in Mortal Shell 2

Once you reach the Mango inside and interact with it, you will notice two things happening. One is that the game adds the Mango to your inventory, and the next is that it immediately unlocks the Ascension achievement, which is hidden.
You must remember that only one Mango spawns per playthrough. The item offers you a choice:
- You can keep the Mango as an active item and let it restore 50% of your health on the spot.
- The other choice is to keep it as a passive item and unlock the Mango Mask, which is selectable from the Change Masks tab.
Do note that you can’t do both, and whichever way you choose, that is the only Mango you will get for the rest of your playthrough. Moreover, you should also keep in mind that running the Slayer Seal will stop you from getting the hidden achievement upon interacting with the Mango, as all achievements are disabled while the Seal is equipped. Remember to unequip the Seal before you interact if you are chasing the trophy.
That concludes the guide for using the Mether’s Flesh in Mortal Shell 2. It is a hidden item that offers a useful and unique reward. Do grab the item early if you can spot it, as it can be easy to overlook it among all the other loot.
