Some jewels are better than others, and some sit in a league of their own. Getting your hands on a unique set of jewels with effective perks can run you 50 or even 100 divines. Uniques are known for their rarity, as they can’t be dropped from normal mobs; you must go face-to-face with the toughest bosses in the game to obtain them. Here we are going to look at the Against the Darkness Unique Jewel in Path of Exile 2: detail every stat, and a note on how to get this unique and rare drop in the game.

How to Get the Against the Darkness Time-Lost Jewel

We will get this special Against the Darkness Time-Lost Unique Jewel by running the Trial of the Sekhemas and defeating the boss at the end of the trial, but with a special condition. Because you see, by default, the boss at the end of the trial (Fourth Floor) will not drop the Time-Lost Jewel; we will need to add an extra buff to the trial boss, Zarokh, making the fight harder for the guaranteed jewel drop.
To get your hands on the Against the Darkness Time-Lost Jewel, you will need to enter the Trial of the Sekhemas. Add Djinn Barya (Lv. 80) into the Relic Altar and place The Desperate Alliance Vase Relic into the Relic Altar to start the trial. Both of these items have their own purpose. While you can start the trial with only Djinn Barya, the Desperate Alliance Vase Relic boosts the buff on Zarokh, which makes the Time-Lost Jewel a guaranteed drop at the end.
- Djinn Barya Location: You will get this item drop from common mobs in Act 2.
- The Desperate Alliance Vase Relic Location: You will get this item by completing the Trial of the Sekhemas or trading it with players. Here is its list of effects:
- Deals 100% more Damage.
- Receives 75% less Damage.
Note: The Desperate Alliance Vase Relic has only a single use; after being added to the Relic Altar, it will vanish from the inventory until you get a new one.
How to Install Against the Darkness Time-Lost Jewel

Against the Darkness is a Time-Lost Jewel; these jewels come with unique modifiers with their own radius. You have to open up the passive skill tree and install the jewels in an allocated Jewel Socket; once installed, the jewel will spread its modifier effect to all the nearby nodes within the given radius.
If you look at the image above, the star icon points to Against the Darkness, a Time-Lost jewel; you can see the effect radius in the blue color. All the nodes that are encompassed within the jewel’s radius will benefit from the Jewel bonus, and nodes outside the Jewel’s radius will remain normal.
Should you Trade or Keep Against the Darkness Time-Lost Jewel?
Now let’s get to the important question of them all: should you sell the jewel or keep it for yourself? If you are planning to sell the jewel, don’t identify it; keep the jewel as it is. So it will be a gamble for the other players in the trade market.
Let’s say you received an Against the Darkness Time-Lost Jewel that adds 2% Dex and 3% Strength; use the modifier bonuses to search for the jewel in the market and check the prices. If they are listed at 2 to 3 divines, then put the jewel that you received for 2 to 3 divines to make some decent item return. If you want the Time-Lost Jewel for yourself, just unidentify the jewel and check if the jewel is beneficial for your build or not. If the jewel doesn’t meet your expectations, then head on over to the trade market and put it on sale.
It’s important to note that not all of the Against the Darkness Time-Lost Jewels are going to be the winner; some will go for one or two Divines while others will easily go for over 100 Divines. The RNG system will decide the type of item drop you will get at the end. But luckily, there is another system that can help you get better stats by making some sacrifices.
Reforging Against the Darkness Time-Lost Jewel

Let’s assume you finally have three sets of Against the Darkness Jewels in your inventory after hours of farming in the trial. But none of them have appealing modifiers or have a proper trade number in the market. Here we can perform a bit of a gamble by sacrificing all three Against the Darkness Jewels in our inventory to create one special Against the Darkness Time-Lost Jewel at the Reforging Bench.
Head to the Reforging Bench, add all three jewels to the three boxes at the bottom, then click on Reforge to start the process of reforging. The bench will combine all three jewels into one singular jewel, which will appear in the box at the top. The yellow markers in the image show the place where the jewel goes, and the orange square indicates the location for the final product.
Do note that you will need three of the same jewels to start the reforging process. If you are planning to roll your luck on getting the best Against the Darkness Jewel, prepare to have three of them. If you have two, then you can buy one from the market and start the process; you might be lucky and hit the jackpot.
It makes sense to keep it if you have a build in mind for your next run in Path of Exile 2, but if you don’t have anything planned, it’s better to sell it, especially if the item yields a high price in the market. Save the Divines as a currency item to invest later. It’s a risky trade on either end: keep the item, but you might see the item’s value going down in the market, making it useless. Or trade the item, but here you risk it again, as you might get to see the item’s value going up in the future.
