Boss fights in REPLACED can be brutal as their attacks are unpredictable, and if you are playing on Hard mode, prepare to face a lot of problems dealing with them. Like the Uncle Ben boss fight, the Commissioner is a tough fight. Here, in this guide, I’ll detail the best way to defeat Commissioner on Hard mode.
Defeating the Commissioner in REPLACED
Having the right amount of Health upgrades will also be a great help against the boss. While the boss fight is shorter compared to Uncle Ben, the attacks here are more devastating: One wrong move, and you can kiss half of your HP hearts a solid farewell.
Let’s have a look at the boss’s moveset in detail, along with what is to be done when the Commissioner unleashes these attacks
Gunshot

The Commissioner will move to the side, pull out his gun, and shoot. The best thing to do is to counter; it will help you deal damage to the boss and, at the same time, refill the Shockwave meter. This is going to be the go-to move of the Commissioner boss; prepare to counter or dodge roll.
Trap

The Commissioner will throw a trap in your direction, at a distance. When the boss does that, don’t counter or deflect, just dodge roll. But make sure to perform a dodge roll in the direction of the projectile, not the other way around. If it’s coming from the left, dodge to the left, pick the perfect time, same with right.

Melee Swing and Melee Slash

The Commissioner will use his bladed arm to swing around him and dash and swing at your location. Most times, these attacks will have a red alert indicator, meaning you must dodge, but sometimes they will have a yellow indicator, indicating a counter option. I found the counter move to be too risky, since you never know when the attack is going to give out a yellow or red alert prompt.
The best way to handle this attack is by rolling; don’t try to counter, even if it is showing the yellow prompt.
Grenade Drop

But this move happens when you take down enough HP of the Commissioner. The boss has three blocks of health. When one block is down, he will resort to grenade drops. Here, you just have to roll from the red spots into a safe one. The timing will be crucial, but there is a chance you can mess up, as the blast from the grenade does a more-than-good amount of damage. Get your hand on the Med-Stim to restore your health so you avoid dying.
The rest of the fight stays the same with no second phase, as with the Uncle Ben boss encounter. The grenade dropping gets intense, but it only happens twice, once the first and second block of the Commissioner is down.
Tips For Beating the Commissioner on Hard

The boss only has a single phase, and his repetitive attacks make him much easier than Uncle Ben on Hard mode.
- Your best bet is the gun shot attack; counter the gunshot attacks as much as possible. This was my go-to technique to damage the Commissioner. Since the gunshot attacks are a frequent form of aggression against the Commissioner boss, you will always have the option to counter.
- Deflecting the gunshots restores the Shockwave attack, which you can release if the Commissioner is within melee range. Do note, the shockwave can also be released at a distance, and it is effective too.
- Don’t think about countering the Commissioner’s melee attacks, even though the melee attack has yellow signs, indicating the counter option. It’s difficult to tell any difference between the Commissioner’s melee attacks; both counter (Yellow icon) melee and non-counter melee (Red Icon) attacks appear in the same animations. So, it is indeed risky to try to wait for the boss to melee, hoping to counter.
