Graveyard Keeper 2 is a solid sequel that builds on the original by improving on many of the concepts of the first game and adding new ways to make the sequel feel good to play. The sequel takes place eight years after the story of the first game; the locked area is now accessible for us to venture into and take over. On the gameplay front, we have way too many options, from resurrecting zombies for labor, to a massive tech tree bringing even more changes to the game, enhancing the gameplay loop as engaging as possible. The streamlined aspect of the sequel shines during the alchemy and crafting sections, where it is now much easier to get into and do compared to the original.
The 2D pixel art visuals of the original Graveyard Keeper released back in 2018 did get a makeover; now the sequel offers 3D graphics with the help of Unreal Engine 5. While the look can feel different for the fans of the original, the game retains the top-down camera angle from the first game. Long story short, you are no longer just a common Graveyard Keeper; your duty in the sequel is about managing the town, church, state, complex zombie-leaving networks, shipping, base defense, and more to make the gameplay a better ride than the original. It is a massive success, as the current Steam player count for Graveyard Keeper 2 sits at a whopping 36,000 players, with a record of 60,000 players as an all-time player count.
