As humans set out in the vastness of space to settle on various planets in Starfield, they made their own rules, laws, and regulations. But what do you get if some people decide there aren’t any laws? You get the Starfield Red Mile, a notoriously shady casino that features a blood sport that is broadcast to all settled systems. Running the Red Mile is said to be no easy task, most who attempt it die, and few make it back in one piece.
Let’s take a look at everything about Red Mile and how you can run its famous blood sport and come out victorious with your name in the hall of fame.
Where is the Red Mile in Starfield?
The Starfield Red Mile location is situated on the edge of a massive crater on the barren cold planet of Porrima III in the Porrima system. This system is just outside of any UC or Freestar space while still being near enough to them. The closest faction-controlled system is Volii where the city of Neon is located.
Some might also recognize this to be in the same system as the most famous vacation destination in the settled systems: Paradiso. It is also said that Paradiso residents get exclusive live broadcasts of the Red Mile runs due to being in the same system.
What can you do at Starfield Red Mile?
The main attraction to this location is in its name, the Red Mile race. It is a blood sport that many around the settled systems enjoy watching as brave adventurers run this mile from the Red Mile itself to the center of the massive crater and then back.
This run is filled with deadly creatures that more often than not kill the brave adventures who think they can handle such dangers. Sometimes less experienced individuals also end up killed after trying to run the mile to pay off their huge debts.
You as a player can also attempt to run the Red Mile race for rewards like credits, weapons, and even fame. Through the years, certain individuals have made a name for themselves by having the highest record for the number of times they successfully finished the run without dying. You can attempt beating these records to get a trophy you can proudly display at one of your homes or your outposts.
Besides the Red Mile race itself, you can also hang around and have drinks at the bar, find some potential crew members, or even meet the top record holder of Red Mile; Donovan. But, one of the more useful things you can do at the Red Mile is you can buy shielded cargo holds from the ship technician here. These shielded cargo holds allow you to have a chance to avoid the detection of contraband items on your ship when scanned.
What is the best way to beat the Starfield Red Mile race fast?
If you attempt the Red Mile race yourself, make sure you are prepared. You can do that by ensuring you have enough ammo for all your weapons, making sure you have enough healing items and also making sure you get some sleep before it so you get that sweet XP boost.
When you start the run, three paths lead to the center structure. It is advised you take the left path as it seems to be the safest one. Your best bet to complete this fast would be to avoid fighting with any creatures and instead run straight to the center. Using things like an Amp that boosts your movement speed works best for the Red Mile run.
You can also use many of the food items in the game that provide damage resistance as many of the creatures on the stretch of the mile will have ranged attacks that can quickly bring your health down. The best item you can get is at the bartender of the Red Mile itself, It is a drink called the Runner’s Rush which will give you +20% movement speed, +50% damage resistance, and +25% O2 recovery, all for 3 minutes so make sure you buy multiple.
Killing any creatures is not a requirement to complete the Red Mile race, so if you need to do it in the fastest way possible, simply run to the center using the left path, press the button then head back using the same path (which will now be on your right) and that will complete the Red Mile run.
