UPDATE: The release date for EA Sports WRC, previously known as WRC 23, has been leaked.
According to the popular leaker Billbil-kun, the release window for Codemasters Studio’s WRC 23 has been pushed. Earlier this year, the leaker had tweeted that the game will be released on July 28, 2023. However, based on new insider information, Billbil-kun now claims that the game will be released later in the year, probably before November 1, 2023. They currently do not possess the information about the exact release date for WRC 23.
WRC 23 platforms and editions explored
According to Billbil-kun, the developer has decided to opt out of releasing the game for old-gen consoles, such as PS4 and Xbox One. Based on his sources, WRC 23 will be released exclusively on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5.
The game is set to release in two editions, Standard Edition and Champions Edition. The Standard Edition will grant the buyers access to only the base game, while the Champions Edition will include the base game and the content from seasons 1 to 5. When it comes to WRC 23, a season is an extension for the base game that includes new cars as well as new rallies. This is in line with the latest rally game released by Codemasters Studio, DiRT Rally 2.0.
WRC 23 cars, rallies, and modes
Billbil-kun has revealed some of the cars and rallies that are expected to make their way into WRC 23. Some of the cars they believe will be included in the game are:
- The MINI Cooper S
- The Lancia Stratos
- The Citroen Xsara WRC
- The 1995 SUBARU Impreza
Building on the information previously disclosed by another gaming insider, Tom Henderson, they state that the following rallies will be a part of the upcoming game:
- the Monte Carlo Rally
- the Italy Sardinia Rally
- the Vodafone Rally of Portugal
- Rally Sweden
- the Iberian Rally
- Mexico Rally
- Rally Estonia
Talking about the modes offered to the players in WRC 23, they claim that the game will feature career, championship, online multiplayer, and a Time Trials mode. They also hint towards the developers including a FIFA 23-like Moments mode in the upcoming racing sim. Based on their predictions, this mode will let the players participate in various kinds of challenges to unlock various packs and items in-game.
