To make progress in Outbound, you will need to make use of a long list of materials at the right machine to craft specific items that will help you in your journey. Most of the critical upgrades require the use of specific items, and always a number of them to unlock. Since the game has layers of these materials and items, it can get difficult to track them down, since they always spawn in weird places in the map, and one can easily get lost in the system. Here we are set to provide a clear route to craft all craftable items and location details for all the materials needed to craft the items in Outbound.
List of All Craftable Items in Outbound

To make things a bit cleaner, we have divided them into specific categories to help you track and find them more easily.
Thread and Weave Craftable Items
| Machine Required | Generates | Requires |
| Spinning Wheel | Thread | x2 Fiber |
| Spinning Wheel | Durathread | x2 Durafiber |
| Spinning Wheel | Hyperthread | x2 Hyperfiber |
| Weaver | Cloth | x3 Thread |
| Weaver | Durable Weave | x3 Durathread |
| Weaver | Strong Weave | x3 Hyperthread |
Location Details for Materials
- Fiber: Can be obtained from Chapter 1, Outdoors map, and Chapter 2, Coast map. But primarily Chapter 1, as there are many large sources of common Fiber located all around the map.
- Durafiber: Chapter 2, Coast map has a large quantity of Durafibers. So grab them before leaving for the next area.
- Hyperfiber: Chapter 3, Canyon, and Chapter 4, Mountain maps have plenty of Hyperfiber bushes.
So if you want to craft Cloth, first you have to get your hands on Fiber, then use it on a Spinning Wheel machine to craft Thread, then use the Thread in a Weaver machine to finally be able to craft Cloth.
Mineral and Metal Craftable Items
| Machine Required | Generates | Requires |
| Smasher | Common Minerals | x1 Rocks |
| Smasher | Onyx Minerals | x1 Mossrock |
| Smasher | Red Minerals | x1 Amberstone |
| Smasher | Rose Minerals | x1 Quartz Rock |
| Metal Smelter | Metal | x2 Scrap Metal |
| Metal Smelter | Coarse Metal | x1 Coarse ore |
| Metal Smelter | Hardened Metal | x1 Red ore |
| Metal Smelter | Adamant Metal | x1 Chrome Ore |
Minerals Location Details
- Rocks: Starting chapter, Outdoors has many rocks and a large pile of rocks that you can break with a pickaxe.
- Mossrock: Also found in the starting map, Outdoors, and the second area, Coast, as well. You will need to level up your pickaxe to Lv. 2 to break down large piles of Mossrock.
- Amberstone: Found in the third chapter, Canyon. As you probably expected, you will need to level up your pickaxe to Lv. 3 to break large piles of Amberstone.
- Quartz Rock: Lastly, Quartz Rock is exclusively located at the final Chapter map, Mountains. You will need a pickaxe at Lv. 4 to break the pile of Quartz Rocks.
Ores Location Details
- Coarse Ore: You will find a good amount of the Coarse Ore at the starting Chapter, Outdoors in the game.
- Red Ore: Exclusive, located at Canyon, Chapter 3 map of Outbound. You will face unbearable heat. Having alternative energy will help you get your van ready to drive all around with a full charge bar.
- Chrome Ore: The majority of Chrome ore will be found in the final Chapter area, the Mountains.
For latter upgrades, mineral items are absolutely necessary, so make sure to grab as many as possible before leaving the area. Or better, upgrade the items that require the mineral type before moving on. As you move to higher-tier upgrades, the requirement for higher-tier minerals will be needed for upgrades. So always upgrade all the research that requires the mineral available in the area, before jumping to the next map.
Planks Craftable Items

| Machine Required | Generates | Requires |
| Sawmill | Everwood Plank | x1 Everwood |
| Sawmill | Silverbark Plank | x1 Silverbark |
| Sawmill | Redwood Plank | x1 Redwood |
| Sawmill | Blossomwood Plank | x1 Blossomwood |
Location Details for Materials
- Everwood/ Silverbark: Both are found in the starting area, Outdoors, Chapter 1 of the game. While Everwood can mostly spawn in other maps, Silverbark is exclusive to the Chapter 1 area.
- Redwood: Chapter 2, Coast map is a perfect place to find Redwood. Again, you will also find a good amount of Everwood in this area.
Note: I will highly recommend getting as much Redwood as possible in Chapter 2, as Chapter 3, Canyon, doesn’t have any Redwood logs. You will need a good amount of Redwood and Redwood Planks for many campfires and literal bridge building in the Canyon, Chapter 3 map in Outbound.
- Blossomwood: Exclusive to Chapter 4, Mountain map in the game. When you encounter many steeper slopes, make sure to prepare your van with all the proper equipment so it can be able to drive uphill.
Nailing Station: Here, you can make the Everwood Plank better by creating a Reinforced Plank. You will need to use x2 Everwood Plank with Metal to create a single Reinforced Plank.
Note: You can’t reinforce Silverbark, Redwood, or Blossomwood Planks. It’s only tied to the Everwood Plank. Maybe it was a feature, but they abandoned it for the finished game.
Technical Craftable Items

| Machine Required | Generates | Requires |
| Bolt Press | Bolts | x2 Scrap Metal |
| Sheet Press | Sheet Metal | x2 Scrap Metal |
| Sheet Press | Casing | x2 Clay x1 Sheet Metal |
| Assembler | Electronics | x1 Bolts 1x Sheet Metal |
| Battery Assembler | Battery Components | 1x Electronics x2 Sheet Metal x4 Bolts |
| Battery Assembler | Power Cell | x4 Battery Components x2 Hardened Metal x4 Hyperthread |
Location Details for Materials
- Scrap Metal: Can be found around large towers and Solar Panels in all maps (Outdoors, Coast, Canyon, and Mountain). Since they are pretty ubiquitous around the map, you will always find a bunch of them; never leave them out. Scrap Metal is, if not, the most useful item for the upgrades. If the size of the inventory weighs you down, discard something else, but make sure to keep the Scrap Metal. Do take a look at the guide to learn hidden tricks to inventory management.
- Clay: You will find them near the water in the Canyon, Chapter 3 map.
Let’s say, if you want to craft a Battery Component, here you must spend Scrap Metal to create Bolts and Sheet Metal, then use both Bolts and Sheet Metal to craft Electronics. Now again go back and craft Bolts and Sheet Metal, and finally you will be able to craft Battery Components.
Notice that you will only get a single Bolt by spending x2 Scrap Metal. This also goes for the Sheet Metal crafting as well, as you can easily predict the amount of Scrap Metal you will need to keep producing these two crafting items for the main project, such as Battery Component or Power Cell.
Other Machines for Craftable Items
- Rubber Processor: Create Processed Rubber out of Natural Rubber. You will need to invest x2 Natural Rubber to create a single Processed Rubber.
- Stuffing Maker: Create a single Fluff Stuffing out of x3 Cotton.
- Glass Smelter: You can create a single Glass out of Minerals.
- x3 Common Minerals will create a single Glass.
- x2 Onyx Minerals will create a single Glass.
- x1 Red Mineral will create a single Glass.
- x1 Rose Mineral will create x3 Glass.
That’s it, now you are caught up with every item crafting in Outbound. The location details will help you track down the material needed for item crafting in-game. The spawn rate for materials will differ, but you will see them respawning in a couple of days.
