A speck of dirt can lead to many consequences for electronic devices; In ReStory, most consumers will hand you a faulty device with nothing but dirt covering the internal parts. Before you start working on the device, you must clean the device thoroughly to make it look as new as possible, or it will hinder the consumer’s rating for your shop.
The game puts a big emphasis on cleaning devices properly, and there is a fair set of tools and options for you to go about doing this the way the game wants to. I have spent hours removing dust from secondhand devices, to now be able to give you the best way to go about doing this task in ReStory: Chill Electronics Repairs.
Ways to Clean Devices in ReStory: Chill Electronics Repairs

Cleaning methods in ReStory range from the low-cost but time-consuming Hand Cleaning to the high-cost but super-efficient Ultrasonic Bath. I have put up a quick summary of all the methods below and have then covered each of these in detail.
| Cleaning Type | Speed | Cost Detail |
| Hand Cleaning | Very Slow | Free |
| Basic Brush | Slow | ¥2,000 |
| Brush with Radius Upgrade | Fast | ¥6,000 |
| Ultrasonic Bath | Very Fast | ¥80,000 |
Hand Cleaning: The first one on the list is free since you will be cleaning all the dirt off the device with your fingers. Compared to all the other methods, this one is very slow; it will take you a long time to clean the entire device to completion. Besides all the drawbacks, if I had to name the best part about hand cleaning is its accuracy.
Basic Brush: Once you muster up 2000 yen, you can get a basic brush to help you clean much faster than your hands. The brush cleaning coverage covers a small radius with a single sweep. The area of coverage is limited, and the speed is better than hand cleaning but slower than all the other options on the list.
Radius Upgrade: I highly recommend getting the radius upgrade to extend the radius of the sweep to cover a wider location. You will clean up more space in lesser time. The upgrade will cost you 6000 yen, but it’s worth every penny. Most cleaning tasks pay well, and they are one of the best ways to grind for money in ReStory.
Ultrasonic Bath: Basically, you will clean all the parts of devices at once automatically without any input. It automates the cleaning process so you can focus on the next device or buying parts for the devices. This is a must-have item in the game, as it cuts the cleaning time of the regular work schedule.
You must disassemble all the device parts and put them into the Ultrasonic Bath, start the cleaning cycle to start the process. Once the timer hits the mark, you can retrieve all the parts and work on them to start fixing it. This makes cleaning much faster, but it will cost you 80,000 yen to obtain this machine.
How to Clean Devices In ReStory
The cleaning process has its own minigame, as you must disassemble the entire device to remove bolts and screws, and start cleaning every internal part before putting them back together. Nearly every single piece in the device- covers, batteries, circuit boards, buttons needs to be cleaned thoroughly. Early on, you must clean each part separately by picking it up and dragging the cleaning supplies available on the side of the workbench. Now swipe the brush over the dirt to start cleaning it off. Later on, you can put all on the Ultrasonic Bath to clean all the pieces at once.
The game keeps track of cleaning progress at the bottom-right of the screen. Once the progress bar reaches 100%, the game will take out the part and put it on the workbench. ReStory is also specific about the area that can be cleaned. I did try to swipe the brush over the cleaned section over and over again, but that didn’t even budge the progress bar a bit, so you must use the brush over the dirty areas to do proper cleaning.
Tip: You can view the dirty parts in Notepad on the device. This will help you keep tabs on which parts require cleaning. You can also be more effective at cleaning by separating the dirty components and cleaned components so you will not clean one part over and over again.
