Mortal Shell 2 is an ambitious sequel to the first Mortal Shell game by Cold Symmetry. Mortal Shell 2 is an action-adventure, souls-like game that expands on the first game to bring a new experience to the players. The reception to the sequel has been overwhelmingly positive among critics and thousands of Steam reviews from the player base. The success of the game could be felt from the free beta version, which garnered over 8000 players, with 2000 active players every single day. The advance access release of Mortal Shell 2 saw 19,000 players flocking into the game, and an active community sharing their adventure and tips all around.
Should you Play the Original Mortal Shell?

Now, with the million-dollar question, should you play the original Mortal Shell first before moving to the sequel? And the answer is no; you can just start a fresh playthrough of the sequel, and you will understand pretty much everything the game has to offer. Despite Mortal Shell 2 carrying the label of sequel on its sleeve, it holds a standalone position in the franchise, meaning you don’t have to play the first game to understand anything happening in the sequel.
Mortal Shell 2 does come with its own unique storyline and puts a huge makeover to all the gameplay elements from the original to feel new and flow smoothly from the start to the end.
Unlike many typical souls-likes, where you must deal with tough enemies and a stamina bar to maintain the flow of the game. Mortal Shell 2 lets you go all out, as it removes the stamina bar to make the flow of combat feel and act more aggressive, rewarding players who are focused on offensive tactics. The game also hands out plenty of collectible items all geared to make the player feel god-like in combat. Even if you are not into Souls-likes, Mortal Shell 2 differs enough from the genre to give you a new outlook on the Souls-like experience.
